Trains from Howrah

Trains from Howrah

Howrah, the smallest district of West Bengal situated on the West bank of Hugli river, has one of the most developed transport systems in Eastern India due to its favorable landscape. Railways is the most crucial feature of the advanced communications infrastructure of the district and this has been established due to the presence of the National Railway Terminus, better known as Howrah Rail Terminus or station, which is the oldest and the largest station of India and obviously one of the busiest.

The most amazing fact about the station is that it is served by two separate railway zones, the Eastern Railway Zone and the South Eastern Railway Zone, thus becoming the central node of a huge railway network linking Howrah and its adjacent regions with the rest of India.
